Siemens was awarded the title of "Sustainable Lighthouse Factory" of the world economy

December 15, 2023

Apply cutting-edge technologies such as digital twins, industrial artificial intelligence, and SiGREEN to promote sustainable development from three dimensions: energy efficiency improvement, waste management, and product green design.

On the basis of a 92% increase in output, the energy consumption per unit product was reduced by 24% and the waste per unit product was reduced by 48%.

Among the only 17 "sustainable lighthouse factories" in the world, Siemens occupies one more place after the Amberg factory in Germany.

The World Economic Forum (WEF) officially released the list of the 11th batch of global lighthouse factories today. Siemens Industrial Automation Products Chengdu Production and R&D Base (Siemens Chengdu Digital Factory) was successfully awarded the title of "Sustainable Lighthouse Factory". By establishing a comprehensive digital energy system, applying cutting-edge technologies such as artificial intelligence, and adopting advanced product green design concepts, Siemens Chengdu Digital Factory has achieved a "win-win" of economic and environmental benefits and has become one of the 17 "sustainable lighthouse factories" in the world. one.

"We are deeply proud that Chengdu Digital Factory has won the title of 'Sustainable Lighthouse Factory'. Since 2019, on the basis of a 92% increase in output, the Chengdu factory has reduced energy consumption per unit product by 24% and single unit production by 48%. Product waste, this proves that sustainable development and innovation complement each other." Cedrik Neike, member of the Management Board of Siemens AG and CEO of Siemens Digital Industries, said, "Following last year's Amberg plant being awarded the 'Sustainable After the Lighthouse Factory', Siemens once again received this award, which demonstrates our continued commitment to sustainable development and our responsibility to promote manufacturing towards a green future."

"As a 'zero-carbon pioneer' that integrates knowledge and action, Siemens has always used its own factories as practice sites and incubators for green technology. Being awarded the 'Sustainable Lighthouse Factory' is an affirmation of our achievements in driving sustainable development with digital technology. .” Wang Haibin, Executive Vice President of Siemens (China) Co., Ltd. and General Manager of Siemens Greater China Digital Industry Group, said, “We will not only continue to practice the concept of sustainable development in our own operations and product design, but also use green products, green Technology and green experience empower ecological partners and promote the industrial chain to accelerate towards a zero-carbon future."

Siemens Chengdu Digital Factory is the first digital factory established by Siemens in China and is also a model of Siemens green factory. By deploying Siemens' carbon footprint trusted actuarial and traceability solution SiGREEN, the factory has achieved transparency in the carbon footprint of its products and organization, providing accurate data and technical support for carbon reduction decisions. In the factory operation process, the factory has deployed a comprehensive digital energy management system to achieve predictive maintenance covering the entire production and manufacturing process, improving energy efficiency while avoiding additional consumption caused by unexpected shutdowns. In terms of waste treatment, the factory uses artificial intelligence recognition and AGV automated logistics equipment to improve the automation efficiency of waste classification and recycling, effectively avoiding waste.
