The scanner maintains the following status information about the network and connected modules:

• Slave status for each Slave

• Network diagnostic counters

• DP Master diagnostic counters

• FDL diagnostic counters

Installation procedures for the scanner module are the same as for any other SLC module. To identify the chassis and module components listed in the installation procedures, refer to Figure 2.

CautionBefore attempting to install, remove or wire the scanner, disconnect system power. Adding or removing the module with the power on may cause electrical damage.

NoteBefore installation, make sure that your modular SLC power supply has adequate reserve current capacity. The scanner requires 750 mA at 5 VDC.

Note Pins 2 and 3 of the serial port are wired the same as a PC 9-pin COM port, so the serial cable for a standard PC COM port must have lines 2 and 3 swapped. The serial connection doesn’t require handshaking.
