This publication contains information about three changes to SLC 500 chassis that will be phased in during the first half of 2006. These changes are:

• plating standard changes the appearance of chassis

• cable connector latches removed from left and right sides of chassis

• plastic cover removed from right side of chassis

These changes have been tested to verify that chassis performance has been maintained.

A change to the plating on the SLC 500 chassis has changed its appearance, but will not affect its functionality. The new plating is part of Rockwell Automation’s ongoing efforts to comply with current and emerging environmental standards. This change helps Rockwell Automation ensure long-term availability of SLC 500 products

The cable connector latches, shown below, on the left and right sides of the chassis have been removed to eliminate the possibility of interference with electrical components when the power supply is attached. The connection between the cables and the connectors has been tested to verify that the retention force is adequate

The plastic cover on the right side of the chassis has been removed as it provided no functional value.
